Passed by many times going to and from the Mt Washington area and always wanted to stop. Finally did and it was awesome. $4 per person and you can rent kayaks paddle boats etc. beach was clean. Water was cold-even in August, but the swimming was great. They let you use floats and such which is nice. Small store had everything you needed and bathrooms are clean. Well worth it.
a picturesque lake that sits at the foot of Cannon Mountain and is surrounded by views of Mt. Lafayette. Relax on the beach or take a dip on a warm summer day. we were here in October and it was amazing to see all the colors.
enjoy the beauty of a 39-acre lake with an excellent view. The slopes of the Cannon Mountain ski area drop right to the edge of the lake, and the view highlights where the Franconia Range and Kinsman Range meet, creating the notch.
On the lake shores, you also have the option to rent canoes and kayaks for $20/hour or pedal boats for $25/hour.
Parking: on busy days, you might have to wait 10-20 minutes to get to the parking spot.
I wonder why they call it the Echo Lake. Is it because it echoes the tranquility from our within?
Well, the lake is truly beautiful and the vivid foliage surrounding it during fall makes it breathtaking. The best place to see the lake and the foliage around it all in one big picture is from the Artist’s Bluff lookout. There a steep, but extremely rewarding hike to reach the lookout and it is a trek worth taking. Do park your cars by the lake, in the parking lots, for you can enjoy both sites at once.
Scenic lake surrounded by mountains. A small part of the lake is available to swim in and it is a very good swim! The water was clean and there was a chill. The changing rooms/ washrooms close at 6 but the beach remains open. There are picnic benches available around the lake. Perfect place to spend a hot summer day
I found this lake from a beautiful photo. And yea this place is more beautiful than the pictures. It has campsite. And hiking trails around. Lake is peaceful and sunset at the perfect time when I was around. Sandy beach and deck for boat launch.
Beautiful lake view with reflection! We were lucky because the day we visited wasn’t windy at all! We took some fun pictures but didn’t have the time to take the lake trail, but maybe next time we will try and explore!
It was our third destination during one day in Franconia Notch. We came at 5pm, just one our before closing. On the parking was a sign Sold Out for today. But I decided to give it a try, and found out that even with that sign it is not a problem to buy entrance tickets, $4 for adult, $2 for kid. There were many people still coming and coming. And at 6pm only bathroom is closed, but the beach remains accessible too but with no facilities. The funniest thing is that it was our third time here, and only the first when we enetered the beach, because we believed the sold out sign. The water was cold, but refreshing. The beach is small, sand is with small pebbles. You can rent a boat, can pedal there. We managed only to swim a little. After 6pm restroom closed, but many people were still entering the beach. Also have seen many campers there.
Absolutely beautiful. Only 4$ for adults. The view is stunning.
